HEPATITIS A

General Hepatitis is a liver inflammation commonly caused due to the exposure of toxin, immune disease, alcohol misuse, or infection. Hepatitis A is the type of Hepatitis virus that is caused due to HAV. This type of virus stays for a very short period and does not require any specific treatment. Research of the World Health Organization (WHO) has found more than 1.4 million cases of Hepatitis A. It is also one of the most common diseases in Israel country. International patients and tourists who are planning to visit Israel must seek the doctor or his health care advisor. The virus of hepatitis can be spread due to contaminated food or water.

Causes

The most common cause of hepatitis A is due to contact with the infected individual. It can also be transferred to the human body if ingested food or liquid is contaminated with fecal matter that contains the virus. As soon as the virus enters the human body, it continues to spread. Through the bloodstream, the virus reaches the liver that results in liver inflammation or swelling. Not only this, but the virus can also enter the human body by having close physical contact with the infected person. These contractions can be caused due to:

  • Drinking polluted water
  • Eating food prepared by chief having Hepatitis A
  • Eating raw shellfish

Signs and Symptoms

There is no sign or symptom of Hepatitis A in children with an age of less than 6. However, elders, adults, and teenagers might develop mild symptoms. Usually, the symptoms appear fifteen to fifty days after the initial contact with the virus. Here are the signs and symptoms which shows that you are having Hepatitis A:

  • Flu-like Symptoms (fever, fatigue, body aches)
  • Abdominal Pain especially in the upper quadrant.
  • Light-colored stool
  • Dark urine
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Jaundice

Diagnosis of Hepatitis A

After getting well-known from the signs and symptoms that show Hepatitis A, you must diagnose and treat the disease. In order to diagnose a disease, you must know its symptoms. If you feel any of the above-mentioned symptoms, you must tell your doctor or health care advisor. Your health care advisor will recommend several tests that will diagnose whether you have Hepatitis A or not. A blood test will be helpful to check the presence or absence of Hepatitis A virus in your liver.

Treatment of Hepatitis A

No specific treatment is required for Hepatitis A. It gets recovered on its own in some time. There is no formal treatment for this infectious disease. However, reducing the effects of symptoms is the main purpose of treating the disease. In order to reduce your symptoms, you should:

  • Reduce the usage of alcohol
  • Maintain a healthy diet
  • Drink plenty of water
