  • Some people face nausea, indigestion, heartburn or stomach pain.
  • Break out in cold sweat for no obvious reason could be a signal of heart attack
  • Pain spreads to arm
  • Feel dizzy and downhearted
  • Pain in the center of chest spreading to jaw
  • Long lasting cough that produces white or pink mucus
  • Veins bloating due to pooling of blood
  • Irregular heartbeat



Diagnostic Tests For Heart Diseases

If you are having any of the above mentioned symptoms then it’s a time for diagnostic tests.However, tests vary on the condition of a patient and doctor recommendation irrespective of heart disease you have. Doctor performs a physical exam and ask about your personal and family medical history before doing any tests. Besides blood tests and a chest X-ray, tests to diagnose heart disease  include,


  • Electrocardiogram (ECG):
    This test is used to detect irregularities in heart rhythm and structure.This test is performed while you are at rest lying position or exercising ( stress electrocardiogram).


  • Holter Monitoring :
    This test is performed with a help of portable device called Holter monitor. You wear this device to record a continuous ECG, usually for 24 to 72 hours and detect heart rhythm and any irregularities found in regular ECG exam.


  • Echocardiogram:
    It is a non-invasive ultrasound exam of chest that shows detailed structure of your heart , blood flow and its functioning.


  • Stress Test:
    This test involves raising your heart rate with exercise or medicine while performing heart tests and imaging to check how your heart response.
  • Cardiac catheterization
  • Cardiac computerized tomography (CT) scan
  • Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
